This is an offshore vehicle held in trust, aimed at South African residents wanting to augment their retirement savings. It includes estate planning benefits. Alexander Forbes explained that it is possible to boost one’s retirement savings outside the tax-deductible annual maximum of R350 000, allowing one to accumulate savings in an offshore jurisdiction, tax-free and without financial emigration. There is a minimum investment requirement of $50 000.
